We went on an awesome day hike in Big Sur, California yesterday. We hiked on
the trails at Julia Pfieffer Burns state park. If you ever visit Big Sur, don't
miss this park and do make the effort to climb up the 1700 foot trail to this
marvelous green bluff with a magnificent view of the Pacific Ocean. The trail
hugs a creek for about 2/3 of the way up to the bluff. Then it shifts to the
woods for a little bit and then you pop out of the woods on to the bluff to see
the awesome view of the Pacific ocean. We settled down on the nice green grass
and spent about 2 hours munching on our lunches and enjoying the view and the
bright sunshine. Some saw some whales migrating out in the ocean but I never
managed to spot them. Others saw a Condor swooping about. It was a marvelous
place to hang out. The hike down went on another trail and we got more awesome
views of the ocean and the steep hillsides coming down to the coast. The hike
was only 5 miles but what a five miles it was!
